BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich with Creamy Coleslaw

For the last 5 months, I’ve been cooking all vegan dishes for one of my clients. My BBQ Jackfruit with Creamy Coleslaw recipe has been one of his favorites.

Cooking three meals a day 6 days a week, I’ve been able to get a hang on meat substitutes and how to play with the flavor profile of dishes.

Now, a favorite meat substitute in the world of vegans is jackfruit. Jackfruit is a large fruit found in Africa, Brazil and Southeast Asia. The flesh reminds me of ackee a local favorite fruit used in Jamaica so it has that meaty texture and consistency that you can pair with anything you like.

Jackfruit has been getting a lot of attention because of its meaty texture especially for new vegans who use to love pulled pork sandwiches. This recipe here is for my vegans so they can enjoy something delicious at the next cook out.
