For the last 5 months, I've been cooking all vegan dishes for one of my clients. My BBQ Jackfruit with Creamy Coleslaw recipe has been one of his favorites.
Cooking three meals a day 6 days a week, I've been able to get a hang on meat substitutes and how to play with the flavor profile of dishes.
Now, a favorite meat substitute in the world of vegans is jackfruit. Jackfruit is a large fruit found in Africa, Brazil and Southeast Asia. The flesh reminds me of ackee a local favorite fruit used in Jamaica so it has that meaty texture and consistency that you can pair with anything you like.
