French Toast with Peach Sauce
Tips for success: If you have fresh bread, slightly toast it. This will help the bread absorb the custard better. You can use your favorite frozen fruit as a good substitute for the peaches.

French Toast with Peach Sauce

Equipment
- Large bowl
- Medium bowl
- Baking sheet
- 12-inch nonstick skillet
- Spatula
Ingredients
French Toast:
- 1 ½ cup whole milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 slices Texas toast day old or slightly toasted
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
Peach Sauce:
- 12 oz. frozen peaches
- ½ cup orange juice
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl mix whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, kosher salt, vanilla; soak bread in mixture for about 10 seconds. Turn on the heat to medium-high in a large skillet melt 4 tablespoons of butter, cook bread for 2 minutes each side or until golden brown on each side.
- Turn on heat to medium in a small sauce pot add the peaches, orange juice and sugar, bring to a boil about 5 minutes. Cut the heat off and stir in the vanilla. Serve the French toast family style with sauce over the top or on the side.
