Fried Onion rings
The title says everything. Homemade fried onion rings are great as toppings on burgers, steaks, grilled food and as a snack. This recipe is awesome and is my go to onion ring recipe.

Fried onion Cooking tips:
If you cannot not find buttermilk, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to 1 cup of milk. You can marinate the onions a day in advance.

Ingredients
- 1 large red onion sliced medium
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2-4 cups flour
- oil for frying
Instructions
- Slice the onions about ¼- ½ inch thick, break the onions into individual slices in a bowl mix buttermilk, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Let the onions soak for 30 minutes. In another bowl mix remaining salt, black pepper and garlic powder and flour together. Dredge the onions in batches in flour and fry in 350-degree oil for 2-3 minutes. Enjoy hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
