Every time I would go to Buffalo Wild Wings, parmesan garlic wings were required! You can imagine my excitement once I discovered they were bottling it for mass distribution in the grocery store.
Now, as a Chef, my first thing to do is to read the ingredients. As expected, it's loaded with preservatives and a bunch of unhealthy ingredients I would rather not serve my family.
So, this recipe is my solution to having that same great parmesan garlic flavor but with cleaner, healthier identifiable ingredients. Let me show you how to whip it up so you can have the best garlic parmesan wings your family's ever had!
Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you'll need for this flavorful garlic parmesan sauce.
Fresh Garlic Cloves
After testing raw vs. cooked garlic, the fresh minced garlic won by a wide margin.
Mayonnaise
I love using Blue Plate Avocado oil mayonnaise since it's a healthier fat.
Grated parmesan cheese
The shredded parmesan cheese didn't mix evenly in the sauce due to its size. On the other hand,
grated parmesan cheese provided a piece of cheese in every bite
Buttermilk
Uncommon, I know but the tang in buttermilk balances out the raw garlic.
Sugar
A pinch of sugar helps balance the sauce.
Lemon Juice
A little goes a long way to brighten the dish.
Seasonings
You'll need Italian seasoning, onion and garlic powder, Savory Cajun seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper.

How To Make Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce
I will teach you to make a garlic parmesan sauce recipe that you can confidently serve consistently.
In a large bowl, add garlic, mayonnaise, buttermilk, grated parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice, and mix until smooth. Cover and pop in the fridge until needed.
Toss it over crispy wings or use it as a dipping sauce.
How To Store Garlic Parmesan Sauce
Garlic parmesan wing sauce is best 7 days after making but will remain fresh in an airtight container for 30 days in the fridge. I don't recommend freezing the sauce.
Pro Recipe Tips & Tricks
Here are a few notes I had from making this flavor-packed sauce.
- Avoid chopped garlic in the jar like the plague. The flavor is inferior to freshly chopped garlic. I like to buy peeled garlic to move faster.
- If you have a garlic press, it'll save you a few minutes.
- Use any mayonnaise you have on hand.
- If you do not have Savory Low-Sodium Cajun seasoning, use your favorite Cajun or all-purpose seasoning instead.
- Granulated onion and garlic powder blend better than powdered.
- Add ½ teaspoon of cayenne or 2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes, or a few drops of hot sauce to make it a spicy garlic parmesan.
- Use it as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders, roasted potatoes, or vegetables.
