Hot Fudge Brownie Sundaes are a classic dessert; the chopped pecans, maraschino cherries, and warm brownies are always a treat. The only thing that could make it better is a homemade version.

Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae

My earliest memory of eating hot fudge sundaes was getting them from Mcdonald’s. And lately, I’ve been craving to go there and get one, for old-time sakes. However, I have a great deal of knowledge of commercially processed foods and know I can make a much better one at home.

I took my favorite brownies and created a homemade hot fudge sauce, homemade caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream. This luscious, sweet, and rich recipe was created.

Key Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make a hot fudge sundae at home.

Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate with a minimum of 42% cacao.

Oil

A little oil will help our fudge sauce have a great shine.

Heavy Cream

This is the base of our hot fudge sauce.

Vanilla Extract

The floral notes are amazing with the chocolate.

Fudge Brownies

Use your favorite brownie recipe. I left you a list of my favorites.

Chopped Pecans

I’m a Southerner, so pecans always go in my sundaes.

Vanilla Ice Cream

Use your favorite vanilla ice cream.

Cherries

I love luxardo cherries, so I used them in this recipe, but maraschino cherries will work.

How to make a fudge brownie sundae recipe?

I hope you’re ready for something bursting with so much flavor that your tastebuds won’t believe what’s happening. I used my favorite homemade brownies and made everything from scratch except for the vanilla ice cream. However, I have a recipe for that.

Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Making a homemade hot fudge sauce should take only 4 minutes, and it is the same process as making a ganache. Warm heavy cream, chocolate chips, and unsalted butter.

Bring heavy whipping cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla to a simmer in a medium pot. While that comes up to temperature. Toss chocolate and oil in a bowl, add butter, and stir in hot heavy cream until smooth.

Sundae

How you serve this is completely up to you but have fun; just make sure every bite sends you to heaven.

Assemble: Coat the inside of a sundae dish with hot fudge sauce, add a brownie, then a scoop of ice cream, 3 small pieces of brownie, 2 more scoops of ice cream, drizzle caramel sauce, and garnish with chopped pecans and top of with a cherry. Serve immediately.

A fudge brownie sundae is best served immediately. However, you can bake the brownies the day before, along with the caramel sauce and hot fudge sauce.

Hot fudge sauce is best 2 days after but will remain fresh in an airtight container for 7 days in a cool dark place or 30 days in the fridge. If you place it in the fridge, reheat it in the microwave for 15 seconds intervals until the sauce melts and is pourable.
