Key Ingredients:
To make this delicious avocado toast, you will need the following key ingredients:
Avocado
Only use ripe avocados when making this avocado toast because this makes it easier to mash.
Kosher Salt
Using kosher salt allows you to use less salt because of the larger salt flakes.
Black Pepper
Fresh black pepper balances the creamy avocado and other seasonings.
Lime Juice
Lime juice adds brightness to the toast by waking up all the flavors.
Parmesan Cheese
Adding parmesan adds a lovely salty component to the dish.
Chili Flakes
I like a little spicy to my recipes, and a tiny pinch of red chili flakes does the trick.
Toast
What type of toast you use is your choice.

How to Cut an Avocado?
Cutting an avocado always seems tricky to those who have never done it before. Don’t worry, it’s easy! To cut an avocado, just follow these 3 steps:
- Place the avocado on a cutting board and cut in half lengthwise around the pit.
- Twist, pull, and separate. Use a spoon or the end of a small knife to carefully remove the seed. If using a knife, apply slight pressure so the knife can pierce the seed, then twist to release.
- Scoop out the flesh using a spoon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about avocado toast:
You can store unripe avocados on the counter for up to 4-5 days, until they’re ripe and you’re ready to eat them. If you’re worried about them ripening too quickly, store the avocados in the fridge instead for 3-5 days.
You can tell if an avocado is ripe by the color and the firmness. Unripe avocados are typically bright green, while the ripe ones will be dark green or black. Ripe avocados should be firm, but still soft enough to squeeze in your hands. Once an avocado is ripe, it has a 2-3 day window before it becomes too ripe.
The best and quickest way to ripen an avocado is to place it on the counter in a sealed brown paper bag. Depending on how ripe the avocado is, it can take between 3 and 5 days to ripen.

Avocado Toast Make Ahead Tips
Because avocado tends to turn brown in the fridge due to oxidation and the dish only takes a few minutes to prepare, I don’t recommend making this dish in advance.
However, if you want to make it ahead of time or end up making too much, you can store mashed avocado in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24-28 hours. You can also freeze mashed avocado in an airtight container for up to 5 months.
