My first kitchen job ever was as a delivery driver for a mom-and-pop Italian restaurant (Cafe Roma) in New Orleans. That's where I learned everything I know today about making homemade pizza dough, a simple no-cook pizza sauce, and how to properly layer the pizza to create amazing cheese pulls.
Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza Ingredients
Here are some ingredients you'll need for my incredible chicken bacon ranch pizza recipe.
Active Dry Yeast
Without the yeast, we won't get that classic pizza flavor. The fermentation of yeast creates part of the flavor we all love in pizza.
All-Purpose Flour
I use bread flour when I feel fancy, but that's not every day, so I made this recipe with all-purpose flour.
Sugar
I used a pinch of Imperial Sugar granulated sugar to help the yeast activate and to reduce the acid in the pizza sauce. I appreciate that the product has maintained consistency for the past century and is Non-GMO. It assures me of the quality of the soil in my home.
Chicken
I love to use shredded rotisserie chicken because it saves me a lot of time.
Bacon
You can use your favorite type of bacon, but I'm a huge fan of beef bacon, and Goodshall's makes my favorite.
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
It is a must for any pizza recipe; however, the one you're not expecting is provolone cheese.
Ranch
Making a buttermilk dressing can be tricky if the portions aren't right, but this recipe is certified and tested by a ranch lover!
Tomato Sauce
This is probably the fastest pizza sauce recipe you'll find online. All you have to do is dump a few ingredients together in a bowl and combine. The pizza sauce will cook in the hot 500°F oven, so it is unnecessary to cook it separately.
Avocado Oil
It is one of my favorite oils because it's healthy and can handle being cooked at a high temperature.
Here are the ingredients you'll need to make the perfect waffles.
How to make Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza
I want my homemade pizza to be easy, tasty, and a crowd-pleaser! However, this recipe has four different parts, but don't let that deter you from the recipe. I'm going to show you will maximize your time.
How do you make Homemade Pizza dough?
Making fresh pizza dough at home is easier than you think.
First, preheat your oven to proof or 170°F, then cut off immediately once the temperature is reached. In a large bowl, combine warm tap water and yeast. Stir in 1 cup of flour and 2 tablespoons of oil until smooth; set aside until little bubbles form, about 5 minutes.
Combine the remaining flour, sugar, and kosher salt in another bowl. Stir the dry ingredients into the yeast until a soft ball of dough forms.
Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface, and knead about 50-60 times or until dough is smooth. Shape into a ball, place in a bowl with 1 tablespoon of oil, evenly coat the dough with oil, cover, and place in the warm oven until the dough has doubled.
No-Cook Pizza Sauce
In a medium bowl, combine tomato sauce, garlic, sugar, kosher salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning, stir together, and transfer extra to an airtight container.
Second proof
Pour the remaining oil into a 12-inch cast iron skillet or pizza pan and spread evenly over it. Punch the dough down and pick it up but let gravity do 99% of the work and turn (like you're driving) to allow the dough to stretch. Place the dough in the skillet and mold it to fit.
If the dough tears, pinch it back together. Cover and place in a warm spot for 40 minutes until the dough has doubled.
Bake the Pizza
Preheat oven to 500°F. After the dough has finished rising the second time, use your fingers to release the air and create a 1-inch border to be your crust. Add a layer of provolone cheese, then spread pizza sauce evenly over the top, leaving a 1-inch border from the edge.
Add shredded chicken, shredded mozzarella, jalapenos, and crumbled bacon. Place the rack on the second rack level near your broiler. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Cut broiler on high and cook pizza for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until crust is golden brown.
Ranch Dressing
While the pizza bakes, make ranch dressing, combine buttermilk, mayonnaise, parsley, vinegar, worcestershire, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and dill weed in a small bowl until smooth.
Cut pizza into slices and drizzle ranch over the pizza or use it for dipping.
How to Store Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza
You can make the homemade pizza dough 3 days in advance and keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. If you want to make it in advance and freeze it place it in an airtight container in the freezer for 30 days. Thaw for 24 hours in the refrigerator before using.
Keep cooked chicken bacon ranch pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1 week.
Ranch dressing is best 7 days after making but will remain fresh in an airtight container for 30 days in the fridge. I don't recommend freezing the sauce.
Reheat leftover pizza in a 350°F degree oven for 5-8 minutes until hot.
