Growing up, whipped cream was always a welcomed addition to top off any breakfast, brunch, or dessert item on the menu, especially when it's homemade and not store-bought Cool Whip.
As an adult, I love to add flavors to my food, especially desserts. So, if I can sneak a little taste of liquor into something, I'm going to do it. That's how we got to my recipe for infused whipped cream.
Initially, I wanted to do something different with my strawberry shortcake recipe, so I added Hennessey to the whipped cream. It was subtle but tasty with the dish. Since then, I've tried bourbon, rum, and vodka-infused whipped cream. All of them are great for any occasion. You just have to be that friend bold enough to serve a boozy whipped cream to their guest and watch everybody's face light up.
My recipe for infused whipped cream uses heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and alcohol. It takes only three minutes to make.
Key Ingredients
Here are all the ingredients needed to make a delicious whipped cream.
Heavy Cream
Most whipped creams are all made the same, but some brands are better than others. Don't let a name brand stop you from this rich combination of flavors.
Sugar
A little sugar goes a long way to sweetening the whipped cream. Remember, you're probably putting it on to something already sweet.
Alcohol
This is a preference for what type of liquor or liqueur you'll use in your whipped cream. You don't have to use an ultra-premium vodka for the best vodka-infused whipped cream, but you do have to use something you enjoy drinking because that will be your base flavor.
How To Make Alcohol Infused Whipped Cream
The key is to chill your bowl and beater in the freezer for 5 minutes before making it. This will ensure that it takes only a few minutes to create.
Place cold heavy whipping cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and alcohol in a medium bowl.
Beat on medium-high speed for 3 minutes until soft peaks form.
How To Store Infused Whipped Cream
The whipped cream will last seven days in the fridge if kept in an airtight container. However, I don't recommend freezing it, as the alcohol will prevent it from freezing.
